I've got an old Yamaha Pacifica that I picked up for a bargain. Even though it's not a high-end model, it plays surprisingly well and feels solid. I've had no major issues with it so far.
I also came across an article on https://ironageaccessories.com/blogs/iron-age-general-blog/guitarknobs-guide/ about electric guitar knobs. It's interesting to read that hat knobs are considered better than speed knobs in terms of grip and control. Maybe something to consider if you're thinking about modifications to your inexpensive keeper!

I've never owned a Pacifica, because I couldn't get past the stigma of it being a "low end" guitar ... but I must say that every time I've picked one up and played it (not many times), it has actually felt better, and played better than most other Start style guitars I've owned / played. I really feel the Pacifica never got the recognition it deserved.

Harley Benton bass. 120 euro. I won’t change it for American Precision.

I owned a Pacifica once, and I really liked it. It was a very nice guitar for only a little money. I sold it cheap to a 16-year old, her first electric guitar.
