Drummers, do you sometimes get blisters? After taping my fingers on my left hand at times over the years and even giving a glove a try at one point (blech!), I saw a YouTube video where a drummer mentioned Sex Wax For Drummers and for 9 bucks I figured "what the hell" and gave it a try even though I was skeptical. Would it help prevent blisters on my weak hand?

In my case, much to my surprise, it not only helped but it completely SOLVED the issue. Why? It gives you slightly more grip and slightly less friction which allows you to loosen your grip. No more blisters!

If you have this issue, give it a try. I have been using it for about a year now and have barely made much of a dent in my first wax puck so it's also a helluva bargain. Added bonus - it smells great (like coconut) which is more than can be said about me after practice or a show. Big Grin

Highly recommended! Cheers

Great find! Kind of seems like that could also work for fingertips and guitar picks? I'm not a drummer but sometimes I need to pretend to be one to record demos. I'll go from zero to hours per day, and the blisters are sometimes incredibly large. In this last round of demos I think I may have discovered the best way to make calluses for me. That is play super hard until they are burning but don't quite have blisters, then give it a couple of days rest, then repeat. When they are burning and tender to the touch but aren't quite blistered, I'll stop. After a few rounds the calluses are there and I can play for hours.

Yup, great way to build calluses!

For guitar picks, Dre and Lukas both use "Gorilla Snot" I think it's called

I wonder if that stuff would be good for surfboards? Seems like it could be good for traction.

I hope that’s a joke?)

Umm, I don't know what things cost in the US, but nine bucks for a block of wax?!!

Surely you can just use surf wax which would cost less that half the price?

Sex Wax “for surfboards” is about the same price at $7.95 in the US. No idea what’s different about the “for drummers” version but my guess is it’s formulated to the temperature hands get when playing versus formulating it for various water temps. For a buck more, worth it. Zildjian makes a stick wax too, but you get way less for the same price.

Edit: to put in perspective, a McDonald’s Big Mac meal costs over $15 here in Seattle these days….
