What an exciting and anxiety-ridden process it's been.

My whole life as a guitarist, I've been "just" the guitar player. Sure, I helped write a lot of stuff, but I was never center stage, never the focus of attention, never the driving force ... and up until the last couple of years, I was happy that way.

Last year I decided to focus on my love of surf and surf-adjacent instrumental music, and that followed with lots of introspection and then some writing sessions. I put some demos out to friends to gather a few opinions and one friend kindly passed my demo on to some friends of his, which led to joining the family at Boneyard Records (boneyardrecords.com), an eclectic group of musicians who explore many facets of Americana, which in a way includes surf - at least the way I look at it, it does Smile

Now the single is out and available, and I hope the folks here at SG101 will check it out. This song is inspired by and an homage to everything I love about surf music and the people who make it all over the world. Hopefully by the time the EP comes out in December I'll have other musicians playing with me and we'll be able to start bringing these songs (and others!) to live audiences.

PS For you gear geeks ... I used an FCS Jazzmaster, a partscaster I call the SURFCASTER OF DOOM, an EB Stingray bass, '59 Bassman RI combo and a Tone King Falcon Grande.

That's solid man ... very tight!

Tight and well produced!
It seems you have your sound.
Rock on!
Joel

Chiba, I look forward to you getting your band together. That song should sound awesome played live! Very well done.

Patrick

Very nice recording. Did you home studio or go somewhere? The nod to Pipeline was an interesting touch. I agree you definitely have your own sound and very nice guitar skills.

Two home studios - mine and the drummer's - on opposite sides of the country. My recording gear is super old, but it still works!
