GFS Surf 90 pickups

weird_oh84 Joined: May 24, 2023 Posts: 181	Posted on Jul 19 2023 11:39 PM I’m considering getting a new Gretsch , but am afraid of the Broadtron pickups being too muddy and dark… Several people on the Gretsch forum highly recommend Guitar Fetish Surf 90 pickups…. arny Joined: Aug 22, 2010 Posts: 611 Netherlands, Europe	Posted on Jul 21 2023 08:44 AM I'm a big fan of SGF Surf 90's, I have them in my Gretsch Electromatic, my MIJ Fender tele with bigsby and even in my Special Player Fender Jaguar. My main guitar is my Tele wich really shines on high volumes, but they clean up nice with my volume button. For the price you can't go wrong! Highly recomended! Oh and they take pedals really well! They're a decent budget pickup option although sometimes seem a little sterile to me. I think a lot of the complaints about the budget Gretsch buckers were aimed at the earlier versions like mine. I think Samurai has/had one of the new semi hollowbody's. I'd see what other members think of the stock pickups before getting ready to replace them. Hollowbody and semi hollowbody's are a PITA to replace electronics and mine is the only guitar I have that I've paid someone else to do it. Top
