Yes it was awesome. What a triumph of the genre that this festival exists! I hope it was a smashing success out there. One of these years I may somehow managed to get out there. I've never even been to Europe before, only UK.

Have you been to the SG101 fest yet?

I have not! These are both two points of great internal shame, I feel I should have gone to these the moment I found out about them about five years ago. I used to have a couple of friends who lived in Los Angeles, but now I'd have to hotel it. I even had dreams of having a band that would play, but that dream seems to have died along with the rest of my social life.

Lorenzo,
I think the Surfer Joe festival was a tremendous success. I enjoyed every day of it and extend my greatest thanks to you for producing it. I have worked multi-day events in other fields and know of the "24 hr. a day till you drop" commitment needed, so I can appreciate all of the work that you and your staff put into it.

Any comments I made regarding distortion or other live problems was just to communicate the information to those on your end, in case you didn't know it was taking place. There was no criticism of any kind intended. If my wording seemed to convey that, I apologize to you for the misunderstanding. I can't imagine what is involved in live streaming an event so I would be the last person to make an intelligent criticism of your work.

Thank you once again for this supreme effort, and supremely successful surf music event!

Dear Lorenzo, i think i know quite well that all of your heart energy and passion goes into this absolutely wonderful festival. And i know how many people are contributing to this.

And i want you thank you all from the bottom of my heart for this.

I'm in the train now,

Reading all your posts and your reactions i am thinking more of a trainwreck.

And why the heck is your signature so long? This is polluting my screen estate reading redundant stuff all the time. Are you thinking people are stupid and are not able to find out how to listen or buy your music? Confused

The feed
Whoever has commented badly about the service please remember that we have put a lot of effort and money into this and the connection is very complicated in an environment overloaded with 2000 smartphones and interferences in the air. Also we got you anyway this service for free (this is not Netflix or Prime). The best way to avoid this issue is to PHYSICALLY COME TO THE SHOW, DON'T GO TO VEGAS and stop bringing family vacations as EXCUSES not to come Smile Just COME next time. And the streaming issue will be no more. You can save $100 per month and have the money to come. But the real question is: are you interested in coming?! Very Happy

Why are you taking a cheap shot at me? I have been bragging on you a lot recently, and telling everybody what an amazing job you did this year putting on your festival. I have not criticized you one time.

I also ordered the Quilter Steelaire 15" speaker last Friday, and told both Eminence and Quilter your YouTube video is what inspired me to make the purchase.

I may be a Dick Dale wannabe, and am realistically not good enough to play at your festival, but I am the loudest fucking guitar player on this forum. I am playing through two brownface Showmans at the same time now.

Anyway, I like to go to Vegas every year to play in the World Series of Poker. I enjoy the environment, as there is an electricity in the air that is hard to describe.

I wish you the best of luck with everything, and still believe the 2023 Surfer Joe festival was the best it has ever been. I always give credit where credit is due.

MooreLoud.com - A tribute to Dick Dale. New EP Louder Than Life available on bandcamp and website. Taking guitar lessons from Jimmy Dale.

Hm, interesting. The person who was complaining about ppl using computers to record music not that long ago is actually using these machines? That's great! I love it when ppl make progress! And as for the signature: they are meant to be read only once as they don't change generally. I never think of ppl as being stupid, because that would be silly, wouldn't it? However, I am entitled to my own opinions, just like you or anybody else and I respect everyone for it. Since my opinions, just like everyone else's are formed by first treatments and/or impressions, I guess you'll just have to make do with it.

And that is all I'm going to say about it. I've got plenty of things to worry about right now and this is not one of them. Gute Nacht.

Ich kann ja meine Signatur natürlich jederzeit in das erste Kapitel von „Das Kapital“ oder „Ulysses“ oder „Das Bildnis des Dorian Grays“ ändern, wenn dir dass besser gefällt?

I've never seen anyone work harder than what i saw Lorenzo doing. The man is super human. I'm incredibly grateful to him and his team for all of their amazing efforts and hospitality.

Even though there were technical difficulties with the livefeed it gave a sense of the excitement and magic that happens at the Surfer Joe Summer Festival. It was my first time attending, and I'm sooo glad i went. I met so many awesome people, heard many of the best surf bands in the world. So much is offered there that is nearly impossible to keep up with it all. The scale of offerings is hard to relay. The beautiful city and beach of Livorno, surrounded by fellow lovers of music and life, the Surfer joe Summer Festival truly must be experienced in person.

Another thing that I noticed on Saturday was that there were plenty of Squier guitars and basses being used by the bands. Just goes to show that even with cheaper gear you can still achieve a great sound (although I think the nice amps helped a bit Wink )

Hi!
Just saying congratulations @surferjoemusic and friends for the festival.
I watched it on YT, I wasn't there but I'd really like to go next year. It looks like a family to me and I discovered such great bands. Okay the sound was screwed up from time to time but I couldn't care less, really. The vibe seemed awesome, a joy to watch and to listen to. Thanks for that, it's precious. See you next year in bellissima Livorno !

You can never have too much reverb.
