So has anyone here heard the group? Arc De Soleil?
If so would you call it Surf music?
I just came across this sound on an YouTube hot rod video.

I followed it down and found,,, Arc De Soleil.
Sounds like surf to me. Although I don’t think it was meant to be considered surf music.

Joel

Whatever you call it, I find it enjoyable. I looked up the artist and he states that he was inspired by his father’s love for The Spotnicks and The Shadows. The vibe, at least to my ears, puts me more in mind of something I would have heard in the late ‘70s, or early ‘80s. The melody is somewhat reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean. Overall, it’s a good package, and I appreciate the clean guitar sound.

You might dig this one.

See also Khruangbin, Balthvs, Gitkin

I don't consider these bands surf, but I tend to like them. Certainly a surf influence, but the rhythms and moods these bands evoke aim for something different than surf imo.

Storm Surge of Reverb: Surf & Instro Radio

Now that I listen to more of the other songs they/he have produced.

I find that it reminds me of a music I used to listen to on a smooth jazz station.

I think what caught my ear, may have been some of the way it sounded. Like maybe The Aqua Velvets, or The verb tone, or blue stingrays, or even Dave Wronski.
Oh well like most music. I find I like some, but not all.
Thanks for the lead Synchro.

yes perhaps it is/was the surf music influence that caught my ear.
Surf, whether many will admit it, has had quite a bit of influence in music.
Thanks for the clues.

Overall, I like his work. There’s a fair degree of variety, but he tends to have well thought out music that is creative and artistic. I wouldn’t sY that I like all of it, but I find him a respectable artist, and love that he plays homage to the days before distortion took over.
