I couldn't think of a better title for my thoughts because I want to verbalize about several subjects. Smile I just finished reading Continental magazine number 35. This is the 1st edition in full color. I'm an old guy so let me start out with saying it was easier to read. It reminded me of when I 1st saw color tv. Smile I was sitting on the patio enjoying the magic of summer. I had Electric Beach Party from monday playing. Carol picked a bunch of my favorites. No. 35 is excellent. The interviews are very good from creative people that make music. Smile I have waited for Pollo Del Mar to come back to life for many years. When Ferenc started other bands, I thought it was dead for ever. I was real happy when the new album was released. Smile Sean has been putting a great effort to improve the mag. While reading this, I'm aware that the common love of this music has lasted decades, closing in on 7 decades in my lifetime. There's new bands popping up from every corner of the earth. Most of us are aware of that fact. Smile Now I'm thinking about the SG101 festival. There's many bands that I thought I would never get to see live. Now I get to see them in one weekend in one location. I'm going to get to visit with as many people as possible that share my love affair. Smile What does this have to do with the state of the genre? Most music is driven from a commercial aspect. Surf is one that is driven by the love of the music, not by financial grain. There's a short list in the world of items that survive by love. I remember hearing Pipeline for the 1st time in the early 60's. I never got past it. Now I have so much music to listen to that it's tough to keep up. I love it. Smile

If we can attract an audience, Surf will survive. Ultimately, genres live or die at the will of the audience.

The sound of clean guitars with reverb seems to have a wide appeal, so that’s in our favor.

Completely agree, I see big surf waves still going on!

I guess there in this issue should be review of my EP, hope it’s good)

I know that I liked it, when I heard it.

For what it's worth we played Twangstock, East Village, New York last weekend. The more traditional bands, that I could tell, pulled in an older crowd with some younger people. Bands like ours and the Tarantino's had a healthy mix of both. It also helps that a lot of surf music is very danceable and rhythmic.

I think with the pandemic slowing down we should all be able to start getting some gigs and exposure again.
