Permalink Demos - The Dead Planet Surfers

My band, The Dead Planet Surfers, recently recorded some demos. Our music tells the tales of a group of surfers that travel the universe, seeking out waves on dead planets. But are all these planets really dead?

Some background: This last year I caught up with some old high school mates and we decided to get the band going. The recordings are still a bit rough. We wanted to get the song structures down as a starting point. A couple of these songs were on the sg101 comps from years past. My reverb tank is on the other side of the world so once I reunite with it, I’ll fix up the guitar a bit. The objective is to keep working towards an album in the next year or so.

I've attached a few of the songs to this post. If you’ve got some time to give them a listen, I'd be happy to hear any feedback from the sg101 community. There's a couple more on our YouTube channel too.

That’s a cool stuff! Would like to hear the full album.
Love drums and bass, nice guitar sound and melodies, but probably second guitar may add more atmosphere and sound space?

Thanks Vitaly! We talk often about adding a second guitar so we'll see what happens.

I always played in trio band and all of my tunes were initially arranged for one guitar. While recording my EP I understood that now nothings holds me back in studio and re-worked all the tunes, adding second or sometimes even third guitar, it was so much fun and tunes really started breathing I think with all these layers and panning. Probably you may try it also) Nevertheless it’s a great stuff as it is.

Yes, I’m definitely going to explore adding some more guitar. We recorded these songs the way we play them as a trio but I feel they’re only 75% complete. I’m gonna try some more guitar and maybe some other instruments but first I’ll probably forget about them for a couple of months and work on some other stuff and then return to them with fresh ears.
I agree that it’s a lot of fun and your EP sounds great. Well done for sharing your experience recording it too.
