They're designed to have excellent dispersion and it does, the sound is consistent all over a stage. It's (in theory) colourless too, so you really get the sound of the instrument and amp- which is very useful when DI'd through a full range PA. I know those things don't sound like they make for an exciting surf cab but they are the practical reasons I love it.
