Hi people!
Did anyone try the recent reissue of the Epiphone Crestwood Custom? You think it would be suitable for surf rock, or are the mini humbuckers not single-coily enough?
(for reference, I love the guitar sound on the album "Woody Goes to Nice" by The Silicon)

I find low output mini humbs pretty nice for clean sounds, I’ve played Gibson Firebird and it was nice. I guess the same with Crestwood.

Thanks, Samurai! Did you by any chance compare them to P90's? If so, how would you describe the difference?

I think these mini humbuckers are just a small PAF humbucker, so they sound pretty close to them just with more bite and clarity. As for me they may be pretty close to P90 in this, but I had no chance to compare directly, I have not much experience with P90s.

The usual answer here is that most any guitar will work as long as you crank up the reverb. On the other hand if you want to get "the sound" from a particular song or band, then people will be much more specific about what gear works best.
