Surf Slide Guitar???

I hve been listening to The Impacts album "Wipe Out" (that sounds nothing like the Safari's tune) and notice through the whole album heaps of slide guitars a main melody or part. I have never heard of slide guitar in instrumentel/surf stuff except for Santo and Johnny. Has anyone else noticed this snd was it part of their sound? It certainly sets them apart. Philjudd, yeah the Impacts used a steel guitar. I never really even thought about that aspect of their sound until I was reading about them fairly recently and it was mentioned. Very cool to learn about the occasional quirkiness of the original bands. |

I was originally thinking bottleneck slide. But there a heap of great lap and pedal steel versions of surf tunes. |

A few Sleepwalks by Santo and Johnny. Plus the original live. Their version almost sounds like the inspiration for Lbotross...similar rythmn feel with the backing... And finally a bottleneck version of a well known instrumental or surf tune.. |

Everyone here is likely familiar with Laika and the Cosmonaut’s ‘Fadeaway’. They did an alternate version that as far as I know is only available on the obscure surf compilation below (I could not find a clip). It is identical to the album release - it is probably the same recording - except they added slide to the chorus.
