Mike Campbell would occasionally unleash a surf/insto tune with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. There was also his Blue Stingrays project. Here's TP & the Heartbreakers at the Fillmore, 1997. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8xULsx9Pcg

Well, that is completely cosmic...here I am making a one-hour playlist of Petty tunes to listen to (something I have had a very hard time bringing myself to do since his passing)...it's playing and I navigate to SG101 only to find this thread. Need to buy a lottery ticket now. "American Girl" is playing now. I miss him. Grateful that Campbell is still out there playing....now playing "I Need To Know"... —Lorne Last edited: Nov 26, 2022 18:50:21 |

Shake n Stomp, I've been listening to the 4CD Fillmore '97 Box Set that dropped this week. If, like me, you're not looking for all the hits, it's a treasure trove of choice, unusual stuff. A lot of it is deep album cuts, and obscure covers. And there is a total of 4 (count 'em 4) instrumentals: "Slaughter On 10th Ave.", "Goldfinger", "Guitar Boogie Shuffle", and "Hip Hugger".Highly recommended! —Bob |

I love Mike Campbell’s tone on the song. Such a great sound and great feel. Rev —Canadian Surf |

Surf-N-Burn came out in 1997, the same year that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played the Fillmore. Both recordings contain Goldfinger, but the Live at the Fillmore version sounds fantastic! —-John "...enjoy every sandwich." -Warren Zevon Fender Stratocaster American Pro II |
