Permalink Short video on history of psychedelic cumbia music

New Topic

This just came out, a rare english language short documentary on psych cumbia. Those who know me know that I'm currently playing in Combo Tezeta with Tony from the TomorrowMen and the entire membership of The Deadbeats except Ben (but we can hope). This music developed at a great crossroads of 60's surf into the psych rock era, meeting the more traditional cumbia style that was working it's way from Colombia across Central and South America. It's proved to be very popular with modern audiences, we just had a sold out show here in Berkeley California the other week. All the bands mentioned in the video are excellent and I highly recommend some time seeking out their catalogs.

Thanks, nice video! I became interested in it after some Phantom Four covers like Sonido Amazonico.

I suspect not currently, their last performance date is from 2019.
