So my daughter has a subscription to this cool punk/indie mag called Razorcake and she recently alerted me to this 10-page interview with none other than the Insect Surfer himself Dave Arnson! Naturally I ordered a copy for myself and it's a very cool read.

My favorite instro band,
I’m going to nor cal tomorrow to see 3 of their 4 shows.

It's a pretty comprehensive interview going all the way back to the original formation of the band back in DC right out of high school. I'll try scanning it on Monday and posting it here if possible, but no promises —

I used to record the Rodney on the ROQ show on KROQ way back in the early 80's and that was when I first heard "Into The Action" and I was hooked. Yeah it's a vocal but it was my gateway into the "Insect Sound".

I'm pretty sure the bass player in the videos with the blue tank top is none other than my buddy, Jim Colby, currently with Agent Octopus and Jim & the Sea Dragons. He was a rockin', wildman living near Univ of Md back then!!!

YES
The bassist in the video is indeed the illustrious Jim Colby!

Great interview! Brings back a lot of memories, DC had a great scene back in the 80's! Dave has kept the flame burning all these years.
