I may have a shot at a 70's Fender PA 100. Does anyone have experience with these? Does it surf? Supposedly it's basically a Twin reconfigured for PA purposes but some use it as a guitar or bass head. The demos I've found with guitars sound good but don't max the reverb so I'm a little concerned as to what it may sound like, drip, etc. Any info or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

Well, I hope you're all happy. I got it. I'm not entirely sure what I got yet, and I'll probably have to get a tech to go over it, but it AIN'T BAD! AND IT SURFS! Pretty 70's TWIN-esque sounding, with a little bit more anger(in a good way) in channel one. Lots of verb and a generous amount of drip. Channel two seems to have no reverb but otherwise sounds fine. Three and four are milder versions of one. The main advantage seems to be the head(unlike a real Twin) is separate from the speakers. Much easier on the back and on the Richter scale. I realize there is not a huge amount of interest in these but I'm imagine there may be one or two folks often in the distant future who may want to know a little something. On the other hand, if you see a small mushroom cloud towards downtown, you' know I didn't get it to the tech on time.

The inputs on these are for MICS so you may have to boost your signal coming from guitar.
That said with all those channels, you could send your guitar to one channel clean, and then use another channel for reverb or other effects to adjust tone and level on FX without having to go into a reverb effect before the input on the amp.
You would need a splitter before the amp to do this cleanly.

If it has reverb already, then you should be set.

I just got one. For two hundred bucks I couldn't resist. Naturally, I will now proceed to find out how brown I can paint its face via probably massive amounts of time and effort rearranging its guts.

Sorry for the late showup. Bought the head about 3 years ago for $100, the lady wouldn't part with the speakers. Anyway, play it through an old PRS 4x10 cabinet on one side and then split the guitar signal to my 65 Twin Re-issue on the other-but only when the room is big enough. They are the Beast!!! and I mean "Beast"

I've been experimenting with my new purchase a bit and have found that it sounds great through my 2x15 when its EQ is helped out with a Boss GE-6 EQ pedal scooping it out. I drop the 400 hz way down and boost the 200 just a tad.
Furthermore, I put the pedal not in front but between channels. You can jumper all four of the channels on this thing but I've found that two seems to achieve the same effect as all four so I just do two with the pedal between. Then the respective volume and tone controls of each channel can be used to blend the final signal to taste, with the second channel being the only one getting affected by the pedal.
Tqi, if you read this, know that I have plans for this thing... Since it needs a tone stack adjustment anyway, and I have a sack full of tapped pots, well.. you probably know where my mind is going.

Just dug my PA-100 out of storage and taking it to tech to ground power cable and test her out. Too loud to use, but I'm curious about the reverb channel. I think it's onboard tube.
