As a public service, I am going to inform you all that in Hawaii they are called "aloha shirts." It always sounds wrong when people call them Hawaiian shirts. The Hawaiians didn't even wear shirts!

My brother lives in Kauai. He said that over there, they’re called “shirts”. Since that’s what he wears to work (He’s in the hospitality industry) I believe they’re called “work shirts”.

(Sometimes they also call them “Aloha shirts”.)
