Another recommendation for A-A. I find it a lot more useful than B-B.
I even go to Drop "G" occasionally, but I have a 30" scale.
The TV Jones pup is the T90. It has a little more top end and is a bit clearer sounding than a regular P90. The Magnatron may be the twangiest of their pups.
I currently have p90 routes in my guitar. I’ve been considering putting tv Jones classics in the bridge and a magnetron in the neck.

I have Magnatrons in my main guitars and they work great.
Another option could be the TV Jones HiloTrons, although I have no experience with them.

my shell pink tele baritone isn’t anything special. just slapped together as cheaply as possible. it sits in b-b or drop A. full A-a tuning is my favorite, just need heavier strings.

This sounds great! I love the super slow bend with twang. I need to catch you guys live. I can't believe I just missed you at Otto's again!

That looks great! Lovely color and the hat knobs are super cool.
I can kind of get away with A-a with my bari which is currently strung with 14/68 set, but it sounds a little sloppy. I like the snap the strings have a bit more with B-b, but A-a would be more useful. I'll keep messing around with setups and playing styles to see if I can find a good balance.
TV Jones makes their classic filtertrons in a soapbar p90 dimensions which would probably be the smartest way to go but I'm not a huge fan of the black or cream plastic covers. On a superficial level, I love the look of the metal covers on the universal mount p90's and I've been trying to figure out if it would be worthwhile trying to hack together some sort of adapter ring so I could mount the universals in a p90 route. I know function should supersede looks, but ideally this thing would both sound and look like I want it to

Does anyone have a favorite action height to set baritone strings to? I'm setting mine a bit higher than I would a guitar to help with some rattling issues, but I'd like to get a ballpark estimate of what people do so I can have some sort of baseline for what is reasonable.

I can’t measure as a bandmate has my baritone, but it is definitely a little higher than my regular guitars to get less rattle. I’m also tuned a-a, if tuned b-b, I’m sure you can get a little lower.
So, not super helpful, but what you’re saying sounds right. After playing it a bit on the higher registers, I got used to it quickly. Near the nut, it feels like my other guitars (the lower tension helps it feel smooth).

That's good to know. If you happen to have the opportunity to measure what you have it set to I wouldn't mind getting some specs, but no pressure. I'm likely going to raise it a bit more in the near future but I find ballpark numbers helpful for figuring out when it's less of an issue with setup and more about adjusting my technique for the instrument. Gypsy Jazz guitars can feel like the action is too high until you learn how to play them properly, so it's all about perspective.

I played around with a Danelectro baritone at a music store not too long ago. I thought it played well and I probably would have picked it up had I not already bought another guitar.

I thought the sound was great and it returned to pitch. Most of the online demos don't do it justice.
I tested this through an Orange Rocker Verb or something like that.

Man, I love that Mosrite/Hallmark look. I've yet to actually try playing a guitar with a body like that. They look heavy.

I ended up getting a great deal on a Squier for $330 shipped. Not a fan of the un beveled pick guard. Sounds wonderful clean and pure evil with fuzz.
