Black Friday was insidious - visited guitar shop to buy some strings and picks and walked out with guitar)
Really surfy and twangy thing, some cosmetic flaws but plays and sounds sooo great plus this metallic mint, wow! Neck dives a little but I never cared of it being a SG player for years.
Fidelisonics are clear and powerfull and small body gives much more punch and really tight attacking tone but some hollowbody air is still here.
If you want some hollowbody for surf - you surely need to give this a look, for $500 this is a ridiculously good surfing or rocking guitar.

Looks great! Is it a new model? I've never seen one of those before.

I like a good impulse buy!

Nice guitar, played that model several times at Guitar Center and sounded nice. Definitely had some growl to it and warmer than most Gretsch but very cool. I liked the smaller size, fun to play. Enjoy.

I was really missing some Gretsch vibe and got this one with a nice discount. What a nice guitar, they are doing unbelievable job with these new Chinese models. Tahiti Red color adds some surf points for sure)

I love anything Gretsch. I’d love to hear a sample.

I like that. It’s a good, solid sound. One thing I love about Gretsch guitars for Surf is that they have a percussive nature to the sound. I recorded Pipeline once, and that opening glissando sounded almost like tuned tom-toms.

Yes, even the solid body ones are pretty hollow inside and got this percussive vibe that I enjoy. Not so drippy with reverb but has some nice character.

Great sound! The guitar sounds awesome and you play very nicely. Do you have any recordings of that G2655T-P90 in action?

Gretsch has done some interesting things with bracing and soundposts. Some Gretsch guitars have trestle bracing, which is basically like four soundposts that tie into the parallel bracing on the top and present four “feet” to the back. The sound is really bright, but there’s still some body to the sound.
The Duo Jet is like a Les Paul, but with a hollowed out body. I had one, with Dynasonic single coils, and man, would it Surf. I traded it off, with no regrets, but would consider buying another one, someday.
Your guitar, with the combination of a center block body and P-90 style pickups, sounds great.

Yes, I hope to get it back sometimes( But this 5232 is also sooo nice, but sometimes I miss this center block acoustic resonance! And I surely prefer P90 over Blacktop Filtertrons.

P-90s are great pickups. You can do a lot with them.

There’s nothing quite like a Gretsch.

Exactly. This sweet airy tone! Love this reissue and upgraded Super Hilotrons, nice spot between Hilotrons and Filtertrons with both clarity and punch.
