I recently sourced a replacement tank for a 1964 Supro Big Star S5461TR. I'm working on getting the original up and running again for the owner, but I don't have the depth and breadth of knowledge re: adhesives, etc used by Gibbs. The support wires between the ends of the springs and the anchors broke, but the transducers seem to be fine. 1.1ohms DCR input, and 261.5 on the output. I've sourced .007 and .006 beryllium "spring copper" wire for the replacement and magnetic film to ensure proper orientation of the magnets when re-installing. Can anyone enlighten me as to how to remove the brass bushing from the end of the spring, and the magnet from the bushing? I got in there with a razor to try to get the glue off the magnet ends, buy only succeeded in mashing the end of the brass sleeve when I tried to pull the magnet off. If I put heat to it, via soldering iron, can the magnets be "re-charged" with a stack of neodymium magnets with the proper magnetization? TIA for your help.
