Deathtide, I have a similar relation to my Jaguar. I'm the same height, and for some reason I tend to play with all my guitars slung to the right, resting on my hip.
Sadly, I didn't start out that way (decades ago), and eventually discovered the phenomenon now known as buckle rash, which I had been inflicting on my vintage Jaguar. My solution then was to move my belt buckle off to my left hip when playing. And later I noticed Peter Tork of the Monkees did the same.

I'll also happily point out that here these discussion usually end up being people giving their input on their favorite guitars with the ultimate consensus being: go play the different guitars and see what sounds and feels the best to you.
A lot of the advice is very useful, but written words in the end are not the same as sounds.

One of the challenges, these days, is that it can be difficult to find examples to try out. I bought a Jaguar a couple of years ago, sight unseen, and ended up eating the shipping costs to return it, when I realized that I would never truly be satisfied with it. I wish I had an answer, but I don’t. I just realized that of the 13 guitars and basses I own, I only got to play three of them, before I took delivery. Fortunately, my collection is comprised of good guitars, but there were a few misfires, along the way.
