The bands I've been associated with are all defunct or on hiatus. I'm still working on VOL2 of Now That's What I Call Surf! - surf covers of 90s pop hits. So perhaps technically I still qualify. Big Grin

Danny,
MBP and TM are both sadly missed.

I'm here (pretty much) everyday. I'm playing regularly but not in a surf/instro band. I'm hoping to change that.

Still here!

I read the posts daily.
We haven't been able to find a surf drummer in over 2 years so we're dead fish in the Texas water.

Agent Octopus, Art checks in and posts about 3-4 times a week and more if I get locked into a stream. Jim, I think is a bit less, but we talk about posts and new recordings that we see/hear on SG101 alot. I stray away from the tech discussions and gravitate more towards the songwriters and video releasing groups. Also I keep my eyes open for podcast postings, especially ones that tell what artist they are playing. Play podcasts during the day to keep me from going nuts as I work from home.

When I have more "spare" time, I'll hit the '101 a few times per week. It's usually a fun diversion. But, I'll also go months without stopping by. The fact that there seems to be fewer posts (and/or fewer active posters), reduces the urgency of staying current (or catching up) on the forums. The site is an absolute goldmine of gear information and it's usually my first stop when doing research. Man I miss Jake's posts.

As Fady said, El Mirage is still going strong in spite of the pandemic. As a matter of fact, 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of our first show together. Three of us met on SG101 and we recruited a versatile multi-instrumentalist friend to join us on bass. We have several outdoor shows booked this year already, and in the final stages of inking a date that will finally enable us to bring the surf to the North Carolina coast.

Maybe it would be nice if people make an effort to post and read more here.
I basically only use FB to promote events.
Every time I start to read “surf discussion” on there,
I get disappointed in the nonsense and silliness there.
And wish that there was more discussion on here.

Mel here. I’ve been roaming these forums since 2012. I’ll chime in and say being in a surf group, there’s a very high chance one would also be into the instruments/gear aspect as well. I find the gear talk on here and the back and forth information sharing amongst the members over the years is and has been immeasurable. The knowledge-base is THAT vast. Jake from The ‘Verb was the first person I actually met up with through this forum years back. (Hey, Jake!!)

The majority of the gear talk threads here end up being civil and helpful and I think this is a huge plus of a forum format rather than a Reddit-esque format and will keep this forum’s community active and coming back.

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?

Not a band, but I check it. It's a place where countless hours could be spent... So much info!

Guitar for The Aquatudes here. We've been going since 2007 and are booking shows for spring/summer/fall.
