Ive gotten called a loser cause I listen to anything that has a guitar. Im into blues, metal, surf, country.... like I sayed, anything with a guitar in it. Does eveyone else like a alot of other genres? I dont mean like "listen to it occasionaly" Im talking about hit shuffle and ur playlist and its : Stevie Ray Vaughan, Children of Bodem, Dead Kennedys, Marilyn Manson, Dick Dale, Sceamin Jay Hawkins...etc. and actually enjoy listening to it. Maybe Im weird or something.

I don't think having a broad taste in music makes you a 'loser'. I like all sorts of stuff from Garage & Surf, Motown, Rock, Blues to Avant Garde classical and all sorts of stops in between. The only way in which I've found it a curse is if you write your own stuff it's easy to wander off in all sorts of directions and lose focus - and you have to make sure that you homogenise your influences well and keep a direction to your individual projects. That's pretty easy in a surf band - but with my original vocal band I make sure there's a connecting thread with the material.

I listen to a lot of music as well, the only types I truly dislike are Heavy Metal, modern/fratboy Country, and gangster rap.

The real losers are those who criticize others' musical tastes. How absurd.

Whoever said that is obviously the idiot. Having a broad taste in music is a great thing. It would be the equivilant of calling someone an idiot for liking more than white bread.

I second Spud and DannySnyder's opinions. I'll listen to just about every musical form out there, save for the gangsta rap that JakeDobner mentioned. A lack of exposure tends to drive the narrow minded tastes in music. When I was in school choirs, from mid-elementary through high school, I was exposed to many types of music (jazz, pop, rock, sacred, gospel), and with that I have a fairly broad and open mind about music. I do have my personal preferences (surf, rockabilly, psychedelic), but I'm not going to run away, screaming, if a country 'n' western song starts playing.

Ok, just for fun, I hit "party shuffle" in iTunes and got: John McLaughlin, Midnight Oil, The Rondels, Miles Davis, Metallica, The Mermen, Surf Report, BB King, Glenn Gould, Monty Python...
So yes, you are probably weird, but you're not a dull conformist and you're not alone.

I don't understand people who listen to only a few kinds of music. Its pretty much all the same to me. Music is music no matter what 'label' is attached. I like rap (gangster AND backpacker or whatever), reggae, country, classical, metal, stoner rock, blues, jazz, even techno and house (at clubs anyway) pop (love Mariah Carey) etc, etc...The only thing I don't or can't get into is vocal stuff like opera although Ive seen 'Marriage of Figaro' and it ruled but you wont find me buying that cd.
Im not too big on Gregorian chants either but whatever.

i have a very broad taste in music that i've passed on to my 16 year old son.
he likes everything from 50"s rock'n'roll to the european group rammstein, and all points in between. i started brainwashing him at an early age

I like and listen to all kinds of music. Depending on the mood, atmosphere or driving conditions I'll put on anything from Andre segovia to rob Zombie.
I just won't listen to songs I consider Hate music.

I like pretty much everything. I hate new country. I don't mind gangsta rap in an ironic sense, and there is a lot of stuff going on in the rap world right now that is actually incredilby worthwhile.
I've had shuffles that bring up the following order:
DangerDoom
Cab Calloway
Neko Case
The Shins
Slayer
Kronos Quartet
Dragonforce
The Lively Ones
Nirvana
NOFX
Coleman Hawkins
Dr. Dre
I could continue, but y'all get the idea.
