So, I THINK I have one of these on the way (Musician's Friend, while offering great deals, has been wonky with shipping). I have to say, almost EVERYTHING about it appeals to me, but I haven't had a chance to actually play one.
I'm curious if any of you have, and what your thoughts are/were?
Only niggles.....I'd prefer the switch on the upper bout and separate volume controls for each pickup, so you can blend them.
Thoughts?

They seem like cool guitars. I just prefer my JM so I wouldn’t buy one. I have two nice JMs and have decided it is pointless to own other guitars. I have sold two now because I never end up playing them.

A manufactured name brand "Frankenstein" guitar.. how innovative. That is one of the worst combination of guitar features - from other guitars - that I've seen in a while. It's pure snake oil. It's a Jazzmaster when you want it to be; it's a Tele when you want it to be. From the looks of the fretboard, it's an archtop Jazzer when you want it to be.
With all that "feature" and implicit "compromise" going on, it probably falls short in all of the above.
It's a classic example of trying to please everyone. It follows, then, that many will certainly not be pleased. I would be one of those many.
I have to think there are better guitar values out there than the $1500-$1700 price tag that I've seen online for this glorified firewood.
For it's present owners.. well - enjoy
All MHO, of course

I like the looks overall, except the tremolo base looks pushed too far back, making that off balance. I'd think it's great for the person who wants the features and sound of a Jazzmaster but doesn't like the looks of the JM body.

It looks pretty cool and I'm sure you can get JM surf tones with it and would be good for someone who wants the sound but have a different look than the JM.

It should be a clean machine capable of some very nice tones I would think. Looks cool!

Back in the late 90’s, Fender offered a Will Ray (from the Hellecaster’s) signature model Telecaster that came with Jazzmaster pickups. They were Made In Japan, and they didn’t produce a lot them, as they were pretty much a niche type instrument.
I wouldn’t swear to it, but I think they came with Seymour Duncan pickups.
Edit: Appearantly there was also a Custom Shop version.

I’ve had one for a few years now. I love it. It has an ash body which gives it more snap in the initial attack than my alder Jazzmasters. The neck shape is nice and full - fits me like a glove. It’s absolutely first-rate for surfing the reverb!

taking it for a test drive, will share my thoughts in a couple of days. Love teles, do not love jazzmaster body, love jazzmaster pickups and tremolo) will it suit me?)))

Nice! What do you love in it comparing to other guitars you play? Jazzmaster, tele, strat?

I would love to hear OP's feedback on his Tele-Jazz purchase as well as your thoughts Samurai.
