Thanks for the nice review, Conrad! Yes, there's a bit of wit in there and a generous borrowing of some of Chet's trademarks - in particular that funny 13th chord he used a lot. -MT

I’m not really setup for video recording. The recording work we are doing for the band is keeping me hopping, not just in playing the tracks but by endless post-production tasks. Hopefully we will e d up with something I feel comfortable in releasing in the next few months, and then we have to hop through the legal hoops involved.

Nokie- Man, those sound great! I've been messing around with some Chet style (well, probably more Merle TBH) arrangements. Do you have a whole solo set? I find that those arrangements are so much work to get going and they end up being 2 minutes long!

I haven't played solo in years but now I have a 2 hour solo gig on Monday, the employee party for Ventiki, Ventura's only Tiki Bar and the place Surfer Joe played a couple of years ago. They wanted Point Doom but we split years ago so it's just me and my rhythm machine playing bass and drums. They have to close the bar and Monday is their slowest day. A weird time for a party, rum drinks in the middle of the day.

Thanks Matt. I have worked up complete sets of solo guitar and have performed at a few places. It does indeed take a lot of prep in coming up with the arrangements and then perfecting them. I haven't done an entirely surf solo set but I always include quite a few. Here's another couple of 'em - The first is my Chet style arrangement of Telstar and the second is Nut Rocker which I usually play on regular electric but the one below was a fun variation. -Marty

I'm at the bottom of the barrel trying to come up with ones I haven't already posted in other SG101 forums but here's Dueling Banjos - which everyone will agree is totally surf because that great surf band The Ventures covered it on an early '70's live album. This one ain't my arrangement at all - it's by Tommy Jones. Thanks for the nudge Jeff!
