Wow!....thank you for posting. I understand very little about the electronic inner workings of amplifiers but I found the video to be quite interesting, enjoyable and maybe I even learned a thing or two. Uncle Doug is no doubt a master amp technician who loves these amps (IMO, when it's also a labor of love, the results are usually stellar). The video is also a great primer on the value of handwired.... 57 year old amp (which appears to have been well maintained) did not need much to be put into tip top running condition. Outstanding....hope the owner has a nice matching cab and '63 Reverb tank to go with it. |

There is only one way to learn! These videos are a great start. Aspen Pittman's The Tube Amp Book is also recommended (breeze past the things there that may not apply to you.) Actually, Uncle Doug has a GREAT series he did on tube amp basics. Here is the first, How Tube Amplifiers Work, Part 1: https://youtu.be/x5SSKX74DKg He also has series on Power Transformer Basics, How Phase Inverters Work, Tube Amplifier Tone Stacks, and more. Here is the channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Stratosaurus1/videos Finally, be sure to check out his video(s) on the 6G15 Fender Reverb circuit: https://youtu.be/EZFuT4liLAw If you wonder what to binge-watch on Netflix, may I suggest this instead. Your SO may not be as happy as you are, fair warning. — Last edited: Sep 05, 2020 19:35:49 |

i went from hack tinkerer to hack guitar amp builder thanks solely to uncle doug. the man has fun goofy moments but is also world class. his teaching is very easy to follow. can't wait to watch this as i've been building brown fenders lately. |

I replaced the pilot light bulb in my amp a couple months ago and have swapped out some reverb pans and replaced the cables but that's the extent of it and probably for the best for health and safety reasons. I've never learned how to solder either. Fortunately there are a couple real good amp techs in my area (one is literally a 5 minute drive from my house). |

what an incredible video, and that bandmaster is in absurdly good condition. I have to tip him a few bucks once I find his link. |
