Permalink "Paradise Cove" 45 accidentally on 33

I had a thought the other day that the least imaginatively named surf band of all time (The Surfmen) had written one of the all-time greatest moody surf numbers. I wondered if there may be any footage of these heroes on YouTube, there's not, but found this presumably accidental wrong speed version of it. Now I won't go so far as to say it's better on 33, but the murky eeriness of the song is really enhanced to an enjoyable degree. Perhaps some of you may enjoy it as well!

The Surfmen was the original name of the Lively Ones.
It does sound kinda cool slowed down.

And here they are playing Paradise Cove a few years ago at the SG101 convention.

That's a cool version! I'm confused though, did The Surfmen record three 45s and then change their name to The Lively Ones or was it just a situation where there was another "The Surfmen" so they became The Lively Ones? If it's the latter, I have to say it's a pretty groovy move to cover the band who kept your original name! But I stand by my statement that it's probably the least imaginative name a surf band can have.

Unrelated specifically to this post but not completely off topic... "The Clee-Shays" is a pretty superb in-joke of a name, though I guess they might not technically qualify as a surf band.

I'm not sure?
It happened right about the time they switched labels from Titan to Del-Fi, so I would guess the label had something to do with it. I'm sure there's someone on this board who would know better than I.
