Ditto what Surf_Skater said. I sure hope there is a Southern Surf StompFest next year! I also recommend Martin's Surf Guitar Book. I was working through a couple of chapters this morning. Wonderful stuff. I also recommend you search Youtube for lessons by Bruce Lindquist, Tom Conlon, and AnyoneCanPlayGuitar. I have playlists of their lesson on my YouTube channel in my signature as well as videos from past Southern Surf Stomps. Welcome to the forum. —-Tim |

Howdy! Welcome aboard! Take what you like about surf music and make your music the best you can with what you got. It is absolutely true that Fender amps are a HUGE part of the origin of surf music, but there is no law, Federal or State, that mandates it. Pay attention to techniques, mindset, and approaches. A reverb(s) that do what you like is probably as important as any amp. Unless you're a purist in a monk's robe, you will probably be playing other types of music also, which may mean you need your amp to do more than one thing. Get playing, and the equipment will sort itself out in time. —mj
