Hi Mike, Wow!! Great, great article! Thanks for sharing! It even mentions Mel Bergman buying one of the Astronauts’ original Showman amps, a fascinating story that has more behind the scenes details in a thread here on SG101.

I took the time to read the whole article. Wonderful portrait. I'm catching up on the 90's surf scene. I'm sorry I wasn't more aware of it at the time. I listened to a lot of The Phantom Surfers music just now, too. I noticed Johnny said surf music isn't a great way to make money. I'll keep that in mind as I create my own intro tracks. lol. I love that he got back in to the band. It shows the power of music and how it takes on meaning over time.

Just amazing. Thank you so much for posting. Time stood still as I read. What a fantastic article that touches on so many aspects of human kind. I hope they come back to new Orleans!

Cool interview, thanks for posting it!

I always liked the Phantom Surfers' combination of trad songwriting, lo-fi sound and weird humour. Actually I bought an excellent copy of the model road racing LP just a few months ago after having listened to mp3 files for quite a while.
