Overall a very entertaining and well recorded production that touches on a variety of surf styles, show offs some country chops, while incorporating sweet and powdery Euro-surf melody lines (which is right up our alley in Agent Octopus). I like that the guitars are up front, driving and play an assortment of techniques and progressions. Space Snowplow - very reminiscent of early Penetrators, sleek, but in your face. This would be great to hear live. Tangerine Bay - hits me in my sweet spot. If you give a listen to some of the songs Jim writes on our Blue Eyed Surf Cd, you'd know this is the one - we wish we would have wrote! (maybe we'll steal it...) Interesting bridge adds a kind of dogged, 80's feel to the track. Again, well recorded, mixed; I can hear every nuance of the various members of the band. Great guitar technique on the final 30 seconds. Most People call me... Jim - like the change of pace. Good to hear a drummer who can pull this beat off effectively. I like the variations on the initial theme and the "Voyage around the Moon" ending is perfect. Rockin' Pants - Fun frolic, great guitar work. Would feel right at home during a Saturday night Oyster Roast at the local Elks Lodge, here on the Eastern Shore. Let's Go Grasshoppin' - My personal favorite! 50s/60s doo-wap throwback chords played beautifully by a strumming accent guitar. Then... a tasty minor chord at 37 seconds, hinting of the surf soaked ending to come, as you fall into the curl... Perchance to dream. Tetromina Twang - Nice instrument interplay, this one is very Los Straitjacketish, to me at least. Like it, nice track. Some people might say more songs on the album, but I like the 6 as a unit. They tell a story that makes me want to keep playing the cd again and again. Great job! Really enjoyed it. Does it come in an old school cd? — Surf.The most dangerous of genres...
