I can't recall if this has been mentioned before or not? I don't remember listening to it. It's a conversation with Jim Gallagher of the Astronauts with local music historian G.Brown. Lots of great stories of the glory years of The Astronauts. Worth a listen if you like rock n roll/surf history. Jim is an entertaining story teller.

I was wondering if he was in the original lineup before I listened - They had like 9 players in the band over the short few years they were together.
Wikipedia has Brad Leach as the first drummer, and Gallagher replaced him right before they hit big time. I have The Astronauts box set but it doesn't have the book about the band etc like many box set have.
The box set has 4 Cd's and two albums per Cd like the old Beach Boys two album combo's on CD - worth searching out if you don't have one.
Yeah Jim Gallagher got drafted and sent to Vietnam in 1966. I think he owned a fast food Biz (started the franchise) and sold it in the late 1970's, so he did pretty good getting out of music I guess.

NO! It was the same core group of 5 for the entire run of the band, up until the last album. They had other members before (The Storm Troupers) and after (sunshine ward) but during the core years, it was the original 5. Dennis Lindsey, Jim Gallagher, Bob Demmon, Stormy Patterson, Rich Fifield. Gallagher and Lindsey were drafted for Vietnam before the last album, Travelin' Men in 1967, and were replaced by Mark Bretz and Rod Jenkins respectively.
You should have listened to the podcast. You would have learned something.

There's an interview with him on "day at the beach" podcast from years ago. I haven't listened to the one you mentioned but Clint's interview was one of my favorites. It certainly sheds light on the music business in the 60's.
