Permalink WANTED Dual Showman Transformer

New Topic

I am looking for a Dual Showman output transformer. 125A29A or 022889

www.therelix.net

Is that too much reverb?

Does it have to be vintage?

If not check out Mercury transformers.

...i heard dick dale invented that transformer...

I have a '71 lying around, probably does't make much sense to ship it to the US though.

I asked my tech about Mercury trannys, he said there great but try and find the fender. So I will keep trying. As for the 71, Im not sure if the black face trannys were the same as the Silver face.
Anyone know?

on the early silverface models they were, later silverfaces have the ultralinear circuit and different trannies. they're also all 606 (Schuman I think)... whether or not the quality was consistent I dont know, judging by ebay ads the older the more valuable, but I dont have a clue whether that's a matter of quality or collectablilty.

there's plenty more substitute trannies available, weber, hoffman, mercury.... and more, there's some stuff on the forums here as well. or else dig a bit on the fedner forum. fwiw, some people sub the original fender trannies for mercuries as an improvement.

good luck searching!
