I never used Garage Band, but if you have Tank Reverb and delay modulation tools in there already of some sort that's a good place to start/ Need a clean sounding powerful amp emulation too with 12 inch speakers emulation if it has that too, try different mic modeling as well. Delay pedals will work, but better to use Tape Delay machine type plugin directly into the Tank reverb then into amp chain wise. All knobs at 12 O'Clock to start then adjust mid's down from there to find the sound - you have to tweak all the knobs depending on the guitar in use. Volume and tone is a big part on the guitar as well. |

I would suggest experimenting with the guitar amps that are included first. There are a lot of amps included in the program Rev —Canadian Surf http://www.urbansurfkings.com/ Last edited: Jan 04, 2020 19:15:03 |

I use blackface amp with some reverb and it’s mostly ok for me. But I use it as a practice tool and basic arranger, not a recording studio, so not deep into sounds. —Waikiki Makaki surf-rock band from Ukraine https://linktr.ee/waikikimakaki Lost Diver https://lostdiver.bandcamp.com |

There's an amp preset called "Surfin' in Stereo" that I use for my demos. —The Reverbivores - we're local favorites! |

What a great topic! I thought I was the only one trying this. Currently this is what I use: Bass 60's Combo. Drum Kit: SoCal. Guitar: Surfin' Now I will add that I am not at all satisfied, especially with the drum sounds. For example, I recorded my own rim shot on an acoustic snare. I am a bass player. If I could play the guitar parts well enough, I would record them through a live amp. Alas, I have to play a measure or two at a time and build the lead that way. |

Have you tried using a microphone in front of your amp and running it to a real instrument track? I've gotten decent results for guitar tracks doing this. As a comment above recommended, I record my bass direct into Bass 60s combo emulation. For drums, I build it up piece by piece (one track per percussion instrument) using the "musical typing" feature, which is a bit tedious but I haven't had any success using GB's automated drumming feature. Here's my latest example: https://www.reverbnation.com/lordwellfleettheoystermen/song/31368518-bustin-boogie-boards-demo Good luck. —Everybody up! |
