I'd like to publically thank Niels Jansen for two things: First, his invitation for me to join The Phantom Four on their US West Coast tour back in August, 2016. It was a great experience for which I'll always remain grateful.

Second, at the end of 2016, Niels asked me to guest-host the NSSR countdown show that year for the Classic Surf Top 101 (the 4th edition). It was my first foray into radio since my days in college and professional radio back in the early 1970s and what fun it was!!

It looks like NSSR is re-running that Top 101 countdown show at 1:05pm PST this Saturday, the 28th. It was a privilege three years ago to be a part of these experiences and it remains a privilege to be one of the last voices heard on NSSR as it ceases operation. Thank you, Niels. Future adventures await us all.

John, if you remember outside the show in Cleveland I said that countdown show was so well done and your voice was built for radio. I've been thinking of you in all of this and what an asset you are to the genre. I can only hope that in the future we will here more and another great streaming station.

I have some sadness in the end of this. Not just in the music no longer being there but years ago when there was an equipment failure, many of us banded together and donated like we were part of a family. It was great when it came back on air and we felt like we helped. I was a really small part of this but felt like it was important enough to be part of. I will have fond memories of NSSR for a real long time.

As a surf "newbie", thank you so, so very much for NSSR, Niels and team! It's so sad to hear NSSR's going off the air, here's hoping it'll be a "hibernation" of sorts. NSSR has been the most amazing resource I've come across during my year-and-a-bit journey discovering surf - of course along with SG101 (which I just joined today!)! Listening this afternoon to the Classic Surf Top 101 with Mr. Blair hosting - what a superb program! Niels and team: Any way we could keep NSSR afloat even for just a short while longer, perhaps looping over the Top 100 lists and/or an "unattended" playlist stream? As for a future incarnation of NSSR, I'd like to think I'd not be alone in being most willing to pay an annual subscription to cover labor, h/w & s/w, music royalties, etc.!

I would purchase the archive shows for download if made available plus subscribe to new broadcasting in the future!

Ditto! One would think this could be a great way to help fund the station and ideally help establish a fund to, hold on to your surfboard for this, -- pay the talented folks who made all this fabulous music! (PS I'm not one of those talented folks! (:0)

We are currently at the Top 3 of the European Top 101. In 12 minutes the final two lists will start; The final Classic Top 101 presented by Mr. John Blair and the final Surf Revival Top 101 presented by DJ Jonpaul.
Only twelve more hours of NSSR.
Enjoy!

Big thanks to NSSR for all the great music and I'd like to think SG101 formed a nice community around it.

Hi Niels, Thank you for re-running all the Top shows this past week. It was a kind and wonderful Christmas present to all your listeners. I caught several that I missed the first time around. I was heartened to hear the many announcements that NSSR might be back bigger and better in the future. I sure hope so. Have a Happy New Year!
