Greetings all - I recently got my hands on a Fender Bassman 100 silverface head (tube)...I think it's a '75. I'm getting it overhauled at the moment (cap job, redoing cold solder pots, new tubes, etc.). I haven't had the chance to really try it out, but I'm thinking of running through my 1x15" Lansing ('64) speaker cab. Paired up with my tank, I'm hoping for some nice sounds... anyone else have one of these heads? If so, any stories to share?

In this paucity of responses I'll submit what thin gruel I have to offer.
I have a silverface PA100 from the era and while it's not something I play regularly, it does have a decent sound. Not EQ'd like a guitar amp but it's not really that different. I like the thing. Some day I'll turn a couple of its channels into something more familiar. The silverface era seems like a good place to get deals.
I think you'll be happy with yours.
Then again, you live in Traynor country...
Oh! I have something else I can add. Can't believe I forgot about this earlier. Last week I was in Guitar Center and they had a silverface Bassman Ten in the jam room so I tried it out for a bit with a few different guitars. It was awesome. I absolutely loved it. If it had been at all justifiable I would have bought it. So yeah, you have a great amp!

Thanks for your input!! I have a Traynor YSR-1... GREAT amp, but it's developed a nasty recurring issue that amp techs are having a tough time nailing down. When it works well, she's a beaut, clear, loud, bright. It has a nice deep trem on it, too. The issue is that after a few months of regular use (practicing and gigging). A slow, creeping static sound gets louder and louder, then pops. It happens about every 5 mins. It's weird. But I've got an old Twin and now that Bassman as alternatives.

I have this too on one amp, but it seems to be worse in humidity. Seems like a tube socket, since I can bang on the top of the amp and it makes it pop and the static goes away. It's on a 1962 Twin...

Whoa... banging on the top of amps make me think of my old Peavy amp days! haha! I'll have to try that on the Traynor... if it helps, I'll know what the problem is.
