R.I.P Ric Ocasek

JohnnyMosrite Joined: Jun 14, 2006 Posts: 913 New York City area	Posted on Sep 15 2019 09:57 PM Strange evening today. My lady and I attended a Cars tribute concert at Darryl's House in Pawling, NY. Halfway through the set, we learned Ric Ocasek of "The Cars" passed away at age 75. So far, death is from natural causes but I'm thinking a broken heart may be a factor. He and his wife of 28 years had recently called it quits. "The Cars" weren't surf but did have a surf influence.. "Let's Go" by the Ventures and Wailers being the most obvious. He was one of my greatest inspirations for writing music; we even put a Cars driving guitar and hand clap in our song "In the Shadows Shadow". His music was melodic, his lyrics poetic. I will miss him and the hope of any new music from him the most. Let's Go was the song that got me back into wanting to play in a band. RIP In the "old days" (1978-1984 ) I used to pull the album sleeve out of each new Cars album and go through the lyrics with all their imagery and play on words.
