Does one have to buy a ticket to the Alpine village to buy a Surfyvibe pedal there? Work schedule restrictions means that i don't have time to hang out and enjoy the bands+festivities, but i really want to purchase a Surfyvibe, if possible. If not, then maybe next year. Have a great time everyone! This is the first year I have to miss Fortunately, most bands are coming up to San Jose tomorrow, so I can still see them. —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |

Beth and I arrived a bit late behind the starting gun at the Barkley on Thursday evening and the group from Idaho , the SEATOPIANS had already taken the stage. Very impressive group ; I went up after their set and met guitarist John and spoke for a bit then met bassman Marcus and drummer Seth. We met at the BBQ in the park again the next day. So Marcus wound up winning the MEL guitar. Tone monster. Serious thanks goes to Paul (Colt Surf) for this gift to the event. I plan on wearing this Jazzmaster out. Still catching up on rest after the stellar SG101 convention and the outstanding show at the Ritz Sunday night in San Jose. If anyone has a video of the first song Ivan P. did during the Dick Dale tribute, I would love to see it --a very powerful moment in a day full of greatness. |

Still gotta write stuff but went through my photos last night. They're a little fuzzy, was struggling with the light. https://photos.app.goo.gl/xKNVCJ1D8LGTEvCF8 Unfortunately I couldn't stick around for Evan Foster's solo stuff (though I love that album) Great time as usual, wish I could have talked to people more as usual. — |

Well, another SG101 Convention and I'm exhausted in the best possible way. Thank you BTD for another stellar lineup. My three nights at The Purple Orchid, Alpine Village and Surf Dogs left me smiling from ear to ear. Highlights, you want highlights? Well, I thought that the Delstroyers just killed it Friday and Saturday, and here they are right nearby Portland in Seattle - hope they make it down here sooner than later! Really dug getting to finally see Teisco Del Rey after enjoying his CDs from the mid-90's. Also had a great time Sunday with Kelp and The Seatopians. The super highlights for me were The Pyronauts, Trabants and Insect Surfers (including the Insect Surfers Orchestra and Guitar Army with Michael Abraham, Marty Tippens and Eric Penna along with Dave - wow). The Pyronauts are so freaking tight it just blows me away - the playing goes from touchingly beautiful to crazy-making. Never ever miss them if you have a chance. Such nice guys. And Why does Paul The Pyronaut have a Tail? :) Eric Penna's Trabants just reach me in the best possible way and I'm glad to have had the chance to see them again after having caught them here in Portland on the Freakout! tour. And now Eric is moving to Portland - very exciting for West Coast Trabants fans. But the Insect Surfers, what can you say? Dave Arnson's fun fun fun approach to playing, as well as listening/dancing away to any other band he encounters is second to none. Like BTD, the Insects caught my ear early on in the mid-90's when I discovered them via Phil Dirt and Ferenc's Pop Mart. Thanx for keeping it going Dave! I'm sure that I've overlooked other great acts along the way, but I leave them to others to fill in the blanks. Always great meeting up and hanging with the usual suspects - I love you all. —Rick |

Thanks for the mention Rick! I'm glad you enjoyed the set on Sunday! I wish we could have stayed to see the Trabants and Insect Surfers again, but we had quite the drive ahead of us. —-John The Seatopians 2017- |

SG101 2019 was a blast! Thanks again to Jeff for having The Delstroyers out to play the show this year, and for helping us out with a couple of other shows while we were in the area. We had a ton of fun, bought a bunch of merch from the other bands (and a Surfy Bear from Ted!), and hung out with a bunch of great people. We hope everyone enjoyed seeing our set as much as we did playing it. See you all next time around! —Four String Fender for The Delstroyers & The Woodhavens |

Had a dream early Sunday morning that some one gave me this very big stalk of celery. Looked tasty. Alas , when I awoke there was no celery at all; BUT there was this fantastic Jazzmaster! I am still amazed and it plays great. bought an adapter so I could plug it into my FENDER NEWPORT and though not loud it's fun to hear amplified that way until I get back home in Cincinnati. My jaw is still on the floor. John,Seth and Marcus SEATOPIAN : Should your group need a spot while on tour through the Midwest, look us up. Really like the SEATOPIANS sound. Sounded wonderful over the weekend. Couldn't be happier. Great surf trio. Give us a few months lead time. The more promotion time the better. Tomorrow we listen to your album while traveling. Today we listened to the Los Freneticos extensively. There is always something new each time through. Beth loves it he CD and so do I. Well written, well produced, well recorded and expert performance. Clearly a highlight in the festival performances. We are seriously looking forward to seeing them again at Tiki Oasis. Congratulations again Marcus! Two bass players wind up with the guitars. Whattaya know? Marvelous! —The mighty KAHUNATONES www.donschott.com Last edited: Aug 06, 2019 23:18:21 |

So great to catch up with old friends and make new ones at SG101 this year! Congrats to Don and Marcus on the guitar auctions - just ignore those top two strings and it'll be just like a super short scale bass! Looking forward to seeing everyone next year and meeting all you who haven't been to a convention yet but are going to make it next year! |
