Permalink Tremolo Amp/Pedal disscussion

New Topic
Goto Page: 1 2 Next

I niticed there are not a lot of topics concerning Tremolo, so i decided to start one. Im wanting to duscyss what everyone prefers when they use tremolo. Amp vs Pedal, Harmonic vs opto, brand amp preferences etc.

I've got 2 amp setups.

Fender DRRI amp with its onboard tremolo and DigiTech Hardwire TR-7 Tremolo/Rotary pedal as my main setup.

Marshall DSL5C amp with an Oceans 11 pedal as my couch setup. The Oceans 11 has tremolo as well as reverb.

I've also got a Zoom MS-50G, but that currently has modular synth duties.

I got a SurfyTrem and I leave it on all the time with the brownface setting. Sounds sooooo gooooooood

I run a SurfyTrem on my board as well (brownface). This way I get a consistent harmonic style trem when gigging a different amps. Even when playing the Gomez Surfer since I’m a big fan of the glassy channel.

Ive been playing around with a boss Tr2 bur modded with a volume knob and a switch to double the speed
I also mess with a Supro Trem, love the range of it and the Harmonic switch

I've got a Surfy Trem, which is great for classic Fender sounds. Also have an Electro Harmonix Stereo Pulsar, which provides a big range of sounds, and is awesome when you run it out to two amps. That one is really fun to hear bounce between two speakers.

I own and love the Strymon Flint. I mostly use the middle switch setting ('63 tube) but also use the top ('61 harm) on occasion. I don't really care for the '65 opto setting, though - it's way choppier than any opto trem I've heard on Fender BFs/SFs (which I use when available).

Slightly off-topic, its reverbs are also great, as long as you're not trying to replicate an outboard tank.

I use a SurfyTrem pedal. Both brownface and blackface sound amazing. I am probably in the minority here, but I actually prefer the blackface setting.

MooreLoud.com - A tribute to Dick Dale. New EP Louder Than Life available on bandcamp and website.

I generally use the opto trem in my twins but sometimes an old Voodoo Labs 2 knob trem pedal which is also an opto I believe . I'd loove to try one of the harmonic trems on the market now or a freaky Tremvelope or similar stereo tremolo pedal ( I usually use 2 amps )

I use the amp tremolo on my Vibrasonic (Brown face). So smooth.

Catalinbread Valcoder is pretty cool but a little sensitive to adjustment. Plus it makes a great boost/od

I've got a Surfy Trem, Modtone Tremor, BBE Tremor and Voodoo Labs 4 knob tremolo.
Surprisingly the Modtone might be my favorite. I think it was $40 used. To me it sounds like an amp's onboard trem.
My first vintage amp had my favorite trem, a '65 Danelectro Dm-10.
Don't know what made it so sweet but it was great.
I like tremolo.

That was my and Vince Ray's 198th post, that's weird!

Tis weird mate!plus I was wondering earlier about how many I'd made, albeit on another forum

I have my 61 Showman trem set to slow, and my surfy bear set to fast, so I can tap fast or slow when need be ;)

N0 Camping... I like your style!!!

I am a trem FREEK! I never met one I hated. Strangely enough, I'm partial to the lo-fi Joyo but there are plenty of wide ranging alternatives. The Diamond (cool but a bit too complex for live). Nocturne :-). Boss. Supro (my #2). Fender Deluxe pedal. I've also bought a number of older amps mainly for the trem , Gibson, Ampeg, National. I tend to use the amp versions a lot but they are not always as flexible as pedals. Personal taste mainly. Just try to use it as often as possible. You may save the planet.!

Cool

Monterey, +1 on Ampegs, great tremolo on the Rocket 2 and Gemini I & VI that I used to have.

I've been using a Catalinbread Pareidolia harmonic mezmerizer. It gets pretty close to the Brownface sound IMO. Especially if you run it in an amps effect loop.

I recently got a Keeley Verb o' Trem and now I use it at every gig. The harmonic setting is decent and pretty convincing to a large audience but the Lonnie Mack Magnatone setting is just awesome. The additional reverb is a huge plus too. Its perfect for songs that a 63 unit might not sound right on.

This modded TR-2 is my #1 go to Tremolo now.
