How's it going, new bloke on the block from down under in the land of Oz.
Like some others here, I seemed to track this place down looking for some surf guitar riffs to play.
I'll see how it goes, if you blokes have something to teach, I'm a good listener.
So, Hi!

Spud Welcome here ya bloke.
Only two welcomes seems pretty low for this forum. They must all be on summer vacation as I just was.
Again

Welcome aboard Spud,
do you have the Surforama compilation cd that came out in the lat 90's in Austrailia?
its a cartoon cover of a pig on a surf baord with a big hot rod engine if I recall correctly.
good list of bands nobody talks about on here.
I need to dig it out , to list all the bands.
Joel, you gonna go to the Pier gig on Sun.?

Jeff I don't know. This last six state vacation tour has worn out this O'guitar player.
It looks to be an event to remember. Maybe I'll find a way to get there.
Joel

Thanks again everyone for the welcome.
I've just been tuned into Slacktone for a couple of hours, a band I would never have found if I hadn't come across SG101, those guys have 'it' absolutely terrific stuff!

No, up on the Central Coast, just about an hour north of Sydney. I used to live in Mona Vale though, did my apprenticeship from there many years ago, where abouts did your travels take you?

we checked out and surfed most every spot from sydney north to the gold coast. my favorite areas were around camden haven and coffs harbour. we also drove down to pambula and mirimbula (excuse my spelling) checking out all the surf breaks along the way. wonderful country you have there. carol

Awesome, some really terrific breaks all the way up the coast, glad you had a good time, do you travel much for surfing or just a general overseas jaunt with surfing thrown in as a bonus?
Also Carol, did you get to surf Crescent Head, Byron or Angourie in your travels?
thanks for the additional welcomes Ironmaiden, Bob & Vincent.

Yeah? that's where my nick name comes from, shortened version of spudnik which in turn had something to do with a russian space craft, because I was always spaced out or something. (twisted minds come up with nick names)

yeah, we got really fun surf at crescent head, didn't surf byron bay but stayed at brunswick head for a few days and surfed at the jetty. my husband battled the crowd at angourie one day but i didn't. the surf was really good and the crowd huge and aggressive. .......... to answer your other question, we used to take surf trips every winter somewhere until our son was born, then my hubbie continued to take trips but i was into the mom thing and also got into snowboarding for my winter trip. now that our son is older i've gotten back into taking surf trips but with friends as one of us has to stay with our business, so we take separate surf trips.
