So I was messing with a different theme:

I'm getting itchy again to change the look of the site. I'm thinking about paying a pro to overhaul the theme. If so, we'd have to load them up with some color choices and ideas for a new header graphic. The Fender 60's pastel guitar colors (daphne blue, surf green, etc) might be good choices? But what do I know.

I like this graphic somebody did:

Perhaps that as a header with a blonde and brown color scheme instead of the aqua?

I think a tiki theme would be nice.

A tiki theme would rock. And the pastel colors are a great idea. How about using the font Fender uses on their logos

When I think of surf music I don't think of tikis right away. I've always associated that with exotica and tiki culture. I think of guitars, surfboards, the beach, reverb units...But maybe that is just me.

I've gotta agree with Brian. The whole tiki deal has just a small overlap with the surf genre as a whole. I think that to tiki-fy the premeir site for the entire surf genre would disenfranchise too many different styles and fans.
Sorry, I'm a snoot.

Don't change anything Brian. Just as there are people still exploring the nuances of the First Wave, this site should remain true to the first wave of surf/web forums you've created. Those other themes look sissy and this current layout will look gnarly in a couple of years. Like Michael Sarazin says of his Cobra in Gumball Rally "Some things just get meaner with age."

Brian.....i vote for leaving it the way it is....but of course everything i ever liked in my life has changed......some for the better even, but most of the changes i've seen in my life....i don't like....i still think old cars and guitars rule and some day this site will be the '57 Chevy of surf guitar websites!!

I like the present one better too, but maybe newer would be more managable for Admin?
As long as it doesn't return to Golf Guitar 101 I'm happy lol.
Fore! Four! *bashes dirt...
Oh, though it must be a blue jewel lamp...the reverb/dwell art is groovy
Honest, the site 'feels' so right now. Colors and all. The pics you provided look like a lot of other sites to me. This present one is unique.
Sorry, I know you didn't ask for a vote

Hey Brian,
If you have a hankerin' to alter the appearance try doing one change at a time and see if anybody notices. (Like change a border color or something.)
It really does work well just the way it is but have some fun, after all you designed it!

Perhaps some tolex and grille clothe combinations? Blonde and Oxblood or Blonde and a gold?

...But maybe that is just me.
It's not.
I really like the site's current design - it's a different color scheme than most, and yet it works really well. The ones in the pics you posted look nice, too, but perhaps a bit too standard.

I'm not tired of the site the way it is, but then I haven't been around as long as most, and can understand wanting to change it up a bit.
I think the Fender cosmetics themes mentioned could be good. My only real preference is that whatever you decide, that you do not go with a black background with posts typed in white.
