I had just Messaged Lada yesterday about them playing USA someday,
And in the message, she said they have not started work on any new music.

It's been like a lot of surf bands doing a recess righn now. Few days ago I messaged Klas about The Surfites and he said that they haven't been doing anything with the Surfites for the last few years. — |

I'll just say that it's really hard to continue recording original music for more than 20 years when music is just a part-time endeavor and people have real jobs and families. It's exhausting and quite draining, speaking from personal experience, and it gets harder the older one gets. Creativity in general diminishes as one gets older, so it requires more time - but extra time is the one thing that most of us don't have as we start approaching the half-century mark. It's time for the younger ones to step up and start doing more! —Ivan |

I agree with Ivan. That applies to life in general. As long as there is passion, there is a possibility. If the passion dies, then you just exist. |

R.E.M. Michael Stipe and Mike Mills were on the Andrew Marr Show last Sunday(politics). They said they were happy in their retirement, sometimes when they see live bands they get the urge but the thought of touring soon brings them back to earth. Just a soundbite - Nothing much to do with The Bambi Molesters. Last edited: Nov 24, 2016 12:54:37 |

What I like about surf as I age is that it is not so focused on how old you are, but on the music. The Ventures, Paul Johnson, Dick Dale, and others have all continued playing and I find that very inspirational. I agree with all that life gets busier and busier and sometimes more fragmented than when we were younger. Sometimes we have to wait longer for new releases from some of our favourites, but they are usually worth the wait. I too hope that the Bambi Molesters release more music, but if they don't, I am happy to enjoy what they have already put out. Putting out a new release does take a tonne of work and money, and kudos to anyone who does it! Rev —Canadian Surf http://www.urbansurfkings.com/ Last edited: Nov 24, 2016 12:12:27 |

I hope it's not personal. Smells like it. Hard enough on the creative side, keeping a working relationship like that for so many years always looks to me like an incredible feat. Bambi Molesters, you know that you're beloved. Still no.1 for a lot of folks here. Thank you for all the great records, each one a shining masterpiece. |

Interesting juxtaposition of REM and The Bambi Molesters; seeing as they supported REM on Balkan tours. So quite relevant! |

I can agree with everything Ivan said except that creativity diminishes as one gets older. I think that it is more question of experience vs. naivety meaning that as you get more experienced you loose some naivety + you want to do something that it is not just a copy of your previous work. So yes, it takes more time probably because of instrumental genre itself. Every time we go to the studio we want to be sure that new material is better or different than previous one. So I guess we have our own standards when it comes to this although people still can have their own favorites. Anyway, we are still pretty much active and when time comes, hopefully next year, we will have some new songs to share (for better or worse:)) Most of us have regular jobs and we all have families so it is not that we have too much time in our hands (Ivan explained that very well). One of the problems is that because of our jobs we can't do longer tours or better said - tours need to be planned well in advance. Also, we no longer have booking agent for Europe. Anyone that can help us book shows is welcome...That way we could better promote our future releases. Last edited: Nov 25, 2016 05:42:45 |

Dalibor, Thanks for sharing that. It is so true that it can take longer to write new tunes that don't sound like what you've done before, and that one's standards continue to grow as time goes on. Releasing music is so much more than just recording and putting it out. The recording itself can take a lot of energy (not to mention mixing and mastering), then, if you are releasing it yourself, there is finding the right place to manufacture the product, the promotion (radio, reviews, etc- those records don't mail themselves), booking and promoting the shows(more press), making sure that the out of town shows are financially feasible, working with distributors (I am really lucky to work with some rally great ones), follow-ups and on it goes. For me, as I age, writing new material is more focused and I am able to do it in a more disciplined way than when I was younger. I think that's a result of having less free time. The tough part is working the new material up with the band because of all the things that have been mentioned (we rarely have the time to rehearse...the last time was for Surfer Joe in 2015). Glad to hear the Bambis are still in the game! Rev —Canadian Surf |

I just started playing this record again after not hearing it for a while. Forgot how good everything about this album is: the songs, playing, sound. It has been in steady rotation since I replaced my old Hitachi turntable with a far superior one from Pro-ject. The new turntable really brings out the wonderful sonics on this release. Hard to believe 9 years have passed since it was released. Rev —Canadian Surf |
