How is this sound achieved? Just read this great write up of the “Surfing” album in general, (https://surfguitar101.com/forums/topic/28852/?page=2#p396253) but how can I replicate this particular sound? Sounds overdriven yet clean, nice tremolo, and that classic fret buzz sound on occasion.

Sounds like a bass vi or a baritone with a leslie speaker effect.
I know Nokie would play it live with a normal guitar tuned down, but it's a different sound.

Ninth Wave is one of my favorites.
Simple, but something that draws one in.
Video I did of The Ventures playing the tune Oct. 18, 2008.

Welp that settles it, I need to buy a bass VI haha. I just love that heavy sound. Reminds me somewhat of Dick Dale’s Tidal Wave.
