Saturday March 30 from 7 to 9pm (Pacific). A tribute to Dick Dale, his influences and those he influenced. Phil Dirt will be bringing rare Dick Dale recordings. After the show, I will post a link to the broadcast archives that will be available for 2 weeks.

Awl that's nice - I was wondering if anyone was going to do tribute to the King. Something needs to be done like that.

How can we listen to this live?
Also is the entire May 26 Pier show dedicated to Dick Dale? That would be a fun day!

Not all day, but 2 hours.
Lots of special guest players.

to Mary and Phil...
Just wanted to say that was a great show! Having Ron Eglit call in was also a treat! I learned a lot about his history that I wasn't familiar with.
One question... I stepped out for a second and missed the discussion about Dicks "The Wedge" and The Tandems "Rising Surf". I tried googling the topic but couldn't find any discussion. So is there a controversy over who wrote "The Wedge"?

Thank you for this! Mary, please send my thanks to Mr. Dirt. I used to tune in to his show when we were on dial up. The quality wasn't too good but there was nothing better back then.

You can find the broadcast archives here for 2 weeks - look for Cousin Mary on March 30. The 7pm and 8pm shows are the Dick Dale special. I did neglect to include the interview with Ron Eglit on the playlist but that happened from abou 7:45 to 8:15.

I was listening to the special and I don't think that was Stanley Dix's version of Miserlou. I can send you their version by email.

Thanks for the offer. Please send to cousinmary@kfjc.org. I will forward it to Phil Dirt who gave me the version that I played.

Thanks, some great remembrances of Dick Dale. Ron Eglit alone was worth listening to. Also great that Phil Dirt co-hosted. A lot of my Surf Music CD collection was built up based in his reviews via ReverbCentral.com, along with John Blair's Surf Discography book http://johnblair.us/index.htm.
A photo I took of Dick, 'Captain' Ron @ Ramshead Tavern Annapolis, MD 05/19/2002.
Dick Dale was able to ride his own wave in life, something more should strive to do.

I'm just listening to the show now.
The lyrics for that Stanley Dicks vocal version of Miserlou were written by Mike Palm.
