Howdy Dick Dale Music Lovers:
Please be advised that because Lana Dale is experiencing significant mourning over the death of her beloved husband Rock Legend Dick Dale, coupled with the fact Lana is in seclusion, pursuant to Lana's request and on her behalf I am expressing Lana Dale's sincere appreciation for all your letters of support and sympathy, as well as your monetary contributions to the Dick Dale memorial fund.
As everyone may not know because of conflicting stories in the press and rumor mill, to set the record straight, per Dick's repeated requests during Dick's thirty day battle for his life, as well as for several years before, Dick only wanted Lana and I present while he was hospitalized during his last 30 days as a living person who could be touched and heard through his music, but especially on the night Dick passed away.
When I was not present, the only person who sat with Dick to comfort him was Lana, most days for 18-20 hours, making the 200 mile trek daily, sometimes twice, by herself on the long, deserted road.
That my friends is the long, and short summary of the last 30 days of Dick's life and who was with Dick and who he wanted nearby on his 30 day battle against death.
Any other story is pure fiction. I was there.
For many reasons I am not at liberty to discuss today, plans for the purchase of the memorial, (which will be expensive) as well as other matters have been interrupted. The interruption, however, will hopefully be brief and will be implemented within the next forty-five days.
A very private ceremony for Dick, which less than a handful of very intimate friends of Dick and Lana will be present and will be conducted in the next ten days, possibly sooner.
Because of the temporary interruption regarding the purchase of a memorial, nonetheless, we are planning a celebration of Dick's life. Therefore, on that note, because the place of the event has room for a limited number attendees, I am reaching out to those who have contributed to our fund raiser, either through redacted or the least preferable GoFundMe account entitled Dick Dale Funeral-Medical Expense Fund.
I only state that the GoFundMe account is the least preferable because they keep for themselves such a large portion of the funds collected.
Now that I may have cleared up some questions you may have had about the passing of Dick and fund raising efforts for the memorial, I will now move on to another matter.
To all those who have contributed to our fund raiser who would like to attend the celebration of the life of Dick Dale, please contact me at redacted. The amount you contributed is immaterial, the fact that you stepped up to the place shows you cared.
I will do my best to accommodate your desire to attend, but know space is very limited.
The exact date has not been set in stone, but hopefully will be set for the end of April.
