The May 2019 issue of the Vintage Guitar magazine features the column Check This Action by Dan Forte AKA Teisco Del Rey, titled "Surf Lives!" Dan gives fantastic reviews of the Madeira's "Center of the Surf" and our brothers-in-surf Frankie & The Pool Boys' "Spin the Bottle" albums (as well as Sergio Diab's "Siempre True, Siempre Blue"). Obviously, Dan KNOWS his surf music and it's a fantastic article - and we, the Madeira, are extremely grateful tor both such a great review as well as some well-deserved attention for modern surf music in a national publication! This issue also features a full-page article, written by Pete Prown, about the recent Paul Johnson tribute CD "Stand Up, Stand Up for PJ", produced by Dan, as well as the review of that same CD. I hope that surf music fans buy the issue and support this great publication, one of the very few that has any time for our little genre!

Nice plug for your band Ivan ….yeah keep surfing ….Maybe surf has a good chance to survive the next economic down turn with you at the helm
So when is the big one gonna hit us - are we gonna have a economic crash anytime soon are we already in one? What can a surf band do to weather the storm?

So cool and congrats to all mentioned!
I just walked up the driveway from my mailbox with this issue but haven't had a chance to page through it.
Thanks to VG for supporting this genre' and it's players.
Cheers,
Jeff

?? Que ??
Same thing that Flamenco, Mariachi and Calliope musicians and aficionados do... hang tight and enjoy your music regardless. Surf is what it is and has proven it ain't gonna disappear. I mean fer cryinoutloud it's a genre, not a publicly traded company...
Nor is it Disco...

Is it a genre, or a style? Heh heh. (No reply necessary.)
