Surfable? I dunno, maybe? Anyway, here's some images of several of my personal 'example' guitars that showed up at my door in the past two weeks, and being savagely cold and snowy outside, I took a bunch of 'artsy' photos of them the other day.
Orange/mint green model 700 'Katalina'. I don't think more than 15-20 of these were made, but I'm not sure...
Green model 1100 'Marz 6', another very, very, low number guitar, with perhaps twenty produced?...
My new, pearl white Super 100 (trem version) joins my other model 100 variants, a mix of colors and makers, including one very crude Chinese knockoff counterfeit.
The red/cream trem version of my 'Rocketbox' semi-hollow...
This is the same guitar as the pearl white one posted in the group shot above, I simply switched out the silver 'pickguard' for the blue one. This particular model came with four different color guard plates so they can be changed depending on one's preference.
One more of the red/cream 'Rockerbox' semi-hollow...
A current photo of my entire little collection of 'my stuff' guitars, showing original prototypes (3), Chinese knockoffs (2), hand-built US JBD 'Boutiques' (3), and the rest Korean-built production guitars made under several different brands, 19 in total with several more new-model additions likely added by the end of the upcoming summer...

Thank you! Undoubtedly, the largest collection of 'my stuff' in the entire world.

I think the Marz is the most playable for me at the moment, followed closely by the Rockerbox. I suppose mostly because I almost always play sitting, and the Model 100's are more of a 'stand up' guitar that feel like a greased pig to me if played sitting. My green Marz has a very good feeling neck to me too, but I'm pretty sure that If I would bother to get the Rockerbox a decent setup, it would feel better to me. On the other hand, it might be perfect as-is for the another player. I haven't even plugged in the Super 100, or most of my other 100's yet, for that matter, and I've owned several of them for years.

You can find demos of most of them on YouTube. Search: 'Backlund Guitars' in general, or maybe the specific model name, they would be: Backlund model 100..200..400..'Marz 6'.. 'Katalina'..and'Rockerbox'. That's currently about all of them, I think. Some of the videos go back quite a few years, and showcase the old JBD Company US built 'boutique' guitars that other than general appearance, have little in common with the currently made 'Backlund' models.

I liked it (of course), but not many others did, I doubt if more than twenty to twenty-five were made, though I'm not sure of the actual number.

The green 1100 model would make a killer slide guitar. And you could set it up for playing lap style or underarm!

A recent re-design of my old model 800 from at least a decade ago.
I 'spaced up' the old, plain-Jane version of the 800, which was sold years ago under the Retronix label. I never really liked it, feeling that it was just visually too conservative.
The 'new and improved' Backlund model 800 concept...

My 'old' Backlund model 800 (Retronix). It's nice enough, but lacking my usual eccentric touch, too 'conventional'. The only reason it was offered rather than one of my other, more 'Backlund-y', models was because Retronix considered it a 'safer' design to try to sell, and it certainly was....'safer', but not what I wanted it to be. That has now been...corrected!
