Hello to everyone. Name is Al. I've been playing guitar for about 48 years and have finally decided to get into learning to play surf. I've always loved the sound but for whatever reason waited a long time to give it a go. I've pretty much been strictly a chord strumming rhythm player so this foray into picking is a nice challenge. My daughter and her boyfriend bought me a Squier VM Jaguar as a gift and I then purchased a (new to me) 1973 Peavey Classic 410 to play the Jaguar. I'm looking forward to learning some cool stuff and I'm sure this is the place whenever I have a question, which I'm sure I will.

Aloha Al and welcome to SG101, damn glad to meet you!

Happy Sunsets!

Welcome! You surely will find everything that you want to know here. Smile

Hola! Did you bring any beer?

Cool

Thanks for the welcomes. Sorry ... Montereyjack66 but I forgot the beer this time. But ... myself and two other guys from our little city had our first surf rock band practice tonight and it was pretty awesome. For three guys who've never even jammed before we rolled right from the the first notes and synced up nicely. I'm stoked and can't wait for the next practice later this week. Funny thing is I had mentioned to some friends and family over a couple beers that we were looking at forming a surf rock band and lo and behold, word travels in a small city, we had a couple people asking me if our band would gig at such and such event. I smiled and told them that I'm sure we'd love to play at their event but I would let them know more after we had our first practice session. LOL Anyway, I thought it was funny.
