Hi Jeff, It was a great day! So many highlights, but I'll start with a picture of the lucky Model One winner. Unfortunately, it's not me . I don't know his name but I'm sure Chad or another SG101 regular does.

I had a chance to take a good look at the Model One and it is a work of art, so many beautiful details Drool . Excellent work, my friend. Jealous much? Oh yes, but congratulations to winner.

There were so many great bands this year! That's been true every year, but I think that overall this was the strongest lineup I've seen. I tried to shoot some video of each band and will post them as time permits, but I want to start with this video of The Mystery Men? and the start of their performance of the new Firewalkers album in its entirety. I've been waiting a long while to get my hands on it, and I had the honor of buying the first one sold at the StompFest from Jamie "Mad Scientist" Galatas.

This video starts with an introduction by Dan McNeill (AKA Jet Powers), the longtime MC of the StompFest. Dan does a great job of honoring The Mystery Men? and explaining how they have carried on the legacy of The Penetrators, and how important they are to the StompFest and to surf music in Atlanta and the Southeast. Dan thanked a lot of people in his introduction, but at the risk of leaving someone out, I what to echo him by thanking Chad Shivers, Eddie Katcher, Richard Hawes, Jamie Galatas, Dan McNeill, The Mystery Men?, and The Surge! for all they have done to keep surf music and the Southern Surf StompFest alive and well in Atlanta and beyond.

Los Tiki Phantoms were a real treat. I'm a sucker for any band that performs masked, but LTP were the total package with great musicianship, energy, and a playful attitude. They put on a great show with "sacrificial" crowd surfing and a conga line. I'll try to post some of that stuff later, but here is their opening bit. If they come to your town go see them!

It wouldn't be a Southern Surf StompFest without Eddie Katcher and The Surge! This year with SG101 regular WoodyJ on bass. Here's a personal favorite, "El Jaguar".

My first StompFest was a total blast. I've started getting my photos together and will write something soon. Really great lineup though and SUCH great people. Really felt at home in a place I barely knew, and was impressed at the age and gender makeup of the crowd.

Also Friday night was a ton of fun too.

Once again, a huge thank you to Chad, Jamie, Richard, Ed, Jet Powers and everyone else that worked so hard to put this on. I had a great time seeing old friends, meeting new ones and seeing great bands.
Looking forward to the 2019 show!

Hi ElMonstro, I'm glad you enjoyed the Fest, but sorry I didn't meet you. Maybe we should wear name tags or have a SG101 secret sign.

I did meet DoNtFearTheReverbBass, Don Schott, and bought a beautiful blue embroidered SurfGuitar 101 T-shirt from him. It was great meeting you Don.

It was great to see Jonpaul Balak back for another StompFest.

Hey Surf_Skater!, thanks for being my partner in StompFest madness for the third year running. See you next year, if not before.

And of course it was great to see all the rest of the SG101 regulars, the ones that actually perform and make the StompFest happen, Chad, Eddie, Richard, and Jamie. Thank you all for your hard work. Great job!

Here are a couple more videos. The first two bands of the day, Forbidden Waves and The Wheel Knockers. I really enjoyed both and knew that we were off to a great start for the day.

Thank you to everyone who played, came, and participated in StompFest this year and I agree it was the best yet. I'm still recovering and may have more to say later but here's some quick personal highlights:
- It really was great to see Jack back with the Surge, who were masterful as always.
- Of course I've seen The AmpFibians quite a few times but they really knocked me out this go around, possibly my favorite group of the day.
- What a thrill to have The Flying Faders down, I've said it before but one of the most underrated groups around anywhere and very special to me.
- The Mystery Men? set was fun albeit nerve racking with everything going on during the day and coordinating with our guests (what a gas!) with whom we'd never performed. Nicole, our fire eater (who also plays drums for surf bands in Savannah, GA), was a real treat and really helped to make the show that much more special.
- Los Tiki Phantoms are incredible, everything about them from their songs, sound, show, and attitudes. Really hope to see them again when I'm not running around like a mad man.
- Happy to bring back the KBK to ATL after almost 3 years! I've been playing with them for almost a year (next month) and think this was the best we've sounded so far with this lineup by a longshot.

My wife Jessica, who is not a BS'er, said that around the height of the evening she thinks we had somewhere in between 1000 and 1500 people! There were a lot more vendors this year who seemed to do well and the layout was much better this year and looked fantastic.

My buddy Mark Burger won the Jeff Senn Model One by Eastwood. I know someone (Hunter?) got a great shot but I haven't yet tracked it down. Lester's (TMM?s bassist, can't remember his handle on SG101) wife won the Surfy Industries Surfytrem.

I have a lot of ideas for next year and we've pretty much confirmed our headliner, which is going to be buonissimo!

The Squares - 1995-2002
The Mystery Men? - 2012-
MOONBASE - 2012-2017
The KBK - 2017-2022
The Frigidaires 2021-

I know! It's such a bummer seeing this thread (as well as facebook comments) and thinking "oh, they were there too?!"

Next year!

We tried name tags at SG101 in the past.
Not many people took part in it.
