If anyone has seen Tremolo Beer Gut, their lead guitar player kicks, throws, and wrestles with his reverb tank to no end. How can you disrespect such a delicate piece of equipment? I found out by talking to him for a few seconds. The tank is just springs. NO tubes. No electronics.
Guitar -> fake tank -> real tank.
Does anyone know where I can get a faux-tank like his? I was cringing when he kicked it off the stage several times and never gave a worried look.
Did anyone else think he looks nearly identical to Leonardo Dicaprio?

Pretty fun gimmick! Does it make a sound when he kicks it??

I looked at it, and there's no power cord, just a couple wires running to a regular tank I think? My guess is they've unplugged the pan in the tank and ran wires to a pan in their little cabinet, that way he can kick it around without damaging the tubes and circuitry.

You don’t plug the guitar into it. No power either.
It’s just a box with a pan in it, and a long RCA cable which plugs into a Reverb unit or amp with onboard reverb on it. The amp/unit drives the sound, and it is separated so you can kick the box without kicking the tubes or circuit.
In short: It’s basically an external pan with an extension cable. It plugs into the same jack you’d plug any pan into.
A simple but genius idea!!!
And yes, I’m going to build one
Between this kickable pan, and Mel’s Drip Switch, we’ve had some crazy cool reverb innovation at this year’s convention! REVERB SCIENCE!!!!

If you intend on building one...do one for me and I'll gladly pay you.

I got a big kick out of his reverb kicking antics. That said, the only problems I've ever had with reverb tanks, and onboard reverbs, is the little filament wires in the pan getting broken, which I've broken too often, with no kicking or abuse. He must go through pans fairly regularly.

Old pans are dirt cheap, $10 a pop on ebay last time I checked

That sounds like a jizzworthy explosion of noise! I notice when I “tap kick” the Surfy Bear that produces a tidal wave of noise, compared to the on board of the ‘70 and ‘72 Twins.
