Permalink "Rumble at Waikiki: The John Blair Anthology" CD new from Bear Family

New Topic

Shameless self promotion time. This new release from Bear Family Records in Germany isn't scheduled for release for several more weeks. However, I'll have a handful of advance copies for sale at the SG101 Convention for $25/each. So, what is this??!??? Two CDs, a 62-page booklet, and 52 tracks covering my entire musical journey from 1973 to 2017 (most recent recordings from the Surfaris' Tribute at last year's SG101 Convention...two tracks NOT on the new "Reverb Nation" CD, which will also be available at the Convention).

Contents here are very eclectic ranging from bluegrass to rockabilly to lots of surf and other guitar instrumentals. MANY previously unheard tracks including "Free Fall," the track I recorded for the Richie Podolor tribute CD that never materialized. Also included are all of the acoustic instrumental tracks recorded in 2006 by myself and Marty Tippens for a CD that was never released.

This CD, along with the new J&TNs "Whisky A Go-Go" CD and vinyl LP reissues, and the "Reverb Nation" CD (discussed in another thread) will all be available at the Convention. As Dave Arnson would say, "It's a veritable plethora of new music for your ears."

Awesome! I've got most of your Nightriders stuff but there's still plenty of reasons to get this

Storm Surge of Reverb: Surf & Instro Radio

The Anthology is now available from my website (www.johnblair.us). Note that I only have a handful of advance copies that I expect to sell at tomorrow's SG101 Convention. Feel free to order from my website, though, but expect a slight delay in shipping while I get more copies from Germany.

The "Anthology" CD's release date is still about a week away. Nevertheless, Bear Family sent me a handful of copies to sell at the Convention last weekend. My apologies to those who wanted a copy but didn't get one because the few I had sold very quickly.

Good news: The label has sent me a few more advance copies. Please feel free to order now from my website (www.johnblair.us) or from Bear Family here:

I hope I have enough on hand to support all orders for the next several weeks. Regardless, I'll try to keep this in stock from now on. Thanks, everybody. And, don't forget "Reverb Nation," also available from my website (contact me for multiple purchases and I'll combine postage/handling charges).

Today I got my copy and I listened to it and read the booklet.
Being a friend of John for nearly 40 years I have all his previous
records and albums and I knew most of the facts about Jon & The Nightriders, but I also discovered new aspects about him.
The track 13 on CD 1(Splashback) sounds a little bit strange at the end, I have to check it out while playing the maxi single record.
On cd two I listened carfully until track 15 and then I jumped fast from track to track because this is not the kind of music I like to listen to
(the same happened to me with The Duo Tone´s Unplugged" cd.)
I read on the Bear Family homepage that 1000 copies were produced.
I honestly hope that they will sell 250 copies (or more) until the end of the year,as many of my old collector friends don´t buy any longer cds. This seems to have become a general behaviour unfortunately.
Due to financial legimitations as a retired man I stopped buying
cds myself (there are only Jon & The Nightriders and The Cruncher
exceptions I do make!!)
