interesting...

Every word is like an unecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

A lot of bearing applications call for a "press fit," which is usually at zero tolerance or slightly less. These can often be manipulated by applying heat and cold.

For instance, heat up the housing and often times the bearing will fall out or will become much easier to push out.

For re-assembly put the bearing in the freezer, put the housing (tremolo base) in the oven at about 200 degrees. Then drop the cold bearing into the heated assembly and wah-la you are there.

I use this methodology to put main engine bearings in racing outboard motor crankcases. I machine the crankcase to zero tolerance then use the hot/cold method to allow the bearing to literally drop into the heated crankcase bearing pocket. When the crankcase cools down to ambient, the bearing ain't-a-going nowhere. Then you can do the same for the crank into the bearing/crankcase.

Yah!

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

Hey guys! Dropping by with a question about the exact same problem spy had. By lining up the bearing do you guys mean tighten up the Allen screw until it’s even with the other side?I did that and it didn’t really do much :/ same exact type of guitar. Pressing the tremolo down is fine but if I try to pull it even a little bit it doesn’t come back in tune and changes my pitch exactly half a step higher u til I press it down again. I’m starting to think nothing will fix this and I just have to live with it.
